Start a new family tradition that your kids and their kids can carry on for generations.
Family memory jars are a fun family activity that everyone can participate in. This is an activity for everyone - kids and adults. And you won't need to go shopping for any supplies. We give this one 5 stars because it's a super easy and super fun way to spend time together as a family.
Here are the supplies you'll need and the instructions.

Jar
Paper
Pen or pencil
We put together a printable handout you can use. All you need to do is cut out the squares. If you don't have a printer handy, any blank strip of paper will work.
Instructions for Filling the Family Memories Jar
Gather the family at the table and give every family member a blank piece of paper and a pen or pencil. Then ask everyone to put the date on their paper and write down a memory from that day.
For the little ones, you might have them draw a picture. Then, you can add the date to the picture.
Decide how often you'll add memories to the jar and when you'll open the jar. Then put the jar away. Be sure to keep filling the jar on a fairly regular basis to help everyone stay excited and enthusiastic.
When it's time to open the jar, gather everyone back around the table and have everyone pull a piece of paper and read what's on it. Give everyone a chance to share any comments about the memory, then move on to the next person. For the little ones, be sure to give them an opportunity to talk about their picture and what made it special to them.
What makes the memory jar activity so special is the time you spend as a family, so don't rush everyone through it. Take your time and enjoy the fun!
